Time to Stitch

This close up they all look a little crazy.

It's a shirt with a duck on it, but you knew that =) That's right... we have a new update coming and it is all about clothing. It is safe to say that neither Will or I have strong fasion sensibilities. Sure we both clean up nice, but we don't put much effort into our respective looks. Or should I say look because really we both just dress like middle aged nerdy dads.

Why then, would we plan to do an update based solely on something we aren't that deep on? I mean, much of what is in there today is based on love of cooking, tinkering, Public Enemy, and some desire to slide in some really obscure references. It's all stuff that Will and I run deep on. Fashion, not so much.

Well, we brought in a ringer. Angelina has joined us to learn the ropes of design and management. All this fashion and clothing business is her doing! And what a fun ride it has been so far. It is nice for a bit to get back to guiding and mentoring. Angelina is smart as a whip and driving this effort. I've been reduced to IC status for the most part and it is really fun. "You want a duck shirt? Comin' right up boss."

It's a fun update but it is also more than that. It highlights just how important it is tap into a diversity of different folks when making games. The bottom line is that I probably would have just added more smoked meats and obscure references if I was in charge of this update. It would have been good, but only more of the same. New eyes, different eyes, are what makes the duck shirt happen.

It's also fun to just dig into topics that aren't in your wheelhouse. Muslin... it's not just for cooking anymore. Linen? Guess we need some flax plants. All these little bits of learning just from one little pivot of interest. I love it.

So some time soon you will be stitching pencil dresses from homemade patterns, possibly even making those patterns from paper you crafted yourself (and muslin, don't forget the muslin).
