One of my favorite photo themes is the candid shot of someone posing for someone else. This one is a winner. This is what it looks like to get your booth all set up with all electrical components working and all mundane materials on site. This is just a few minutes before the doors opened. I'm so relieved.

The show went off without a hitch. It was truly an amazing and inspiring event. We got to show off the game to a ton of really awesome gamers and game creators. The folks that show up for this event are very much an example of self-selected screening. You go to BostonFIG to play and learn about indie games. The people we talked to were so genuinely engaged, so absolutely courteous, and soooo dog gone nice that it was a little mind-boggling at times. The energy there is palpable, but in a nice and manageable flow.

It is a far cry from all of the other booth work I've done over the years. Commercial, big shows are awesome, but they are also very much over the top and are sensory overload at its finest. I love shows like Pax and GDC, but they are also zoos. Your booth gets clawed over, you're constantly refilling stacks of swag and tidying up. A bunch of the engagement is sort of ephemeral and swiftly passing. At BostonFIG, it is a different experience all together.

We had folks sit down and play the game for a half hour or more. We got to get into some really great, and downright deep, conversations with players and devs. We got to really know some people.

These folks were hooked.
These folks were hooked.

Will and I sustained ourselves on a diet of only coffee and protein bars (and enthusiasm). I should have packed a couple sandwiches, but we did fine anyhow. By the end of the show all the old rickety bits of my corpus felt reasonably worked over. Thankfully, it is a one-day show and not a 5+ day slog. You go in, show your stuff to some awesome people, you pack your stuff, and you go home. You can pour yourself into one day's effort and then get back to business the next.

Now we need to make another game in time for next year's event =)

I want to go back. Pretty desperately.

But first? We release CRUFT in full 1.0 glory on the 18th of this month.
